Ludhiana, August 15, 2025: Cabinet Minister Aman Arora on Friday hoisted the national flag at the PAU grounds, celebrating India’s 79th Independence Day. 

During the event, Arora outlined the transformative achievements of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the past three years, emphasizing its commitment to building a vibrant and prosperous Punjab.

After hoisting the tricolour, Arora inspected the parade and paid tribute to freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Kartar Singh Sarabha, Madan Lal Dhingra, Lala Lajpat Rai, Udham Singh, Karnail Singh Issru, for their sacrifices in India’s independence struggle. “Punjabis have made unparalleled contributions to the nation’s freedom and continue to lead in safeguarding its interests,” he said.

Arora highlighted key milestones of the state government, including providing over 55,000 government jobs to youth and facilitating 3.16 lakh placements through 5,565 employment fairs. The state established 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs), treating 3.69 crore patients, and adding 200 new AACs soon. Additionally, 118 Schools of Eminence (SOEs) were opened and principals, headmasters, and primary teachers sent for training to Singapore, Finland, and IIM Ahmedabad. 90% of domestic consumers benefited from 300 units of free electricity monthly. Soon all Punjabis will have access to cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh.

The Minister noted that Punjab is the first state in India to deploy anti-drone technology along the international border to curb drug and arms smuggling, a significant step in the Yudh Nashyan Virudh (War Against Drugs) campaign. He urged Punjabis to unite in the fight against the drug menace. 

Other notable initiatives include the Sadak Surakhya Force, which has saved thousands of lives in road accidents, and the Sarkar Aapke Dwar program. Nearly 99.9% of applications at Sewa Kendras are processed within the stipulated timeline. The government onboarded 45,000 patwaris, sarpanchs, municipal councillors, and nambardars, and introduced measures like easy registry, jamabandi, and mutation processes. Additionally, 24 sector-wise industrial advisory committees, 1,000 new Anganwadi centres, sports nurseries, and One-Time Settlement (OTS) schemes were launched.

The event also featured a march past led by parade commander Harshpreet Singh, PPS Officer, with contingents from the Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guards, NCC Scouts, and others. A vibrant mass PT display by 810 government school students and a patriotic cultural program by students from various institutions followed.

Arora also honoured families of freedom fighters, awarded police personnel and parade participants, and recognized individuals for outstanding contributions in various fields. He also distributed tricycles to specially-abled individuals and sewing machines to the needy. 

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain along with Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharam felicitated the Cabinet Minister.
