Minerva Public School (CISCE) Crushes Jammu & Kashmir 7-0 in Subroto Cup U-17 Masterclass

Chandigarh, September 17, 2026: Minerva Public School (representing CISCE) maintained their commanding form at the 65th Edition Subroto Cup International Football Tournament (Junior Boys Under-17), dismantling Jammu & Kashmir 7-0 at the PPFG Ground in New Delhi.
Kicking off at 8:30 AM, the second group fixture saw the young Minervans dictate proceedings from the first whistle to claim all three points and preserve a clean sheet.
Tactically, the match pitted Minerva’s fluid, high-octane 4-3-3 against Jammu & Kashmir's ultra-defensive 5-4-1 low block. Minerva started Ranjan between the posts, anchored by a resolute backline of Sailex, Chingkhei, Tony, and Rokash. In the middle of the park, Moosa, Samte, and Chetan pulled the strings, fueling a dynamic front three of Denamoni, Yohenba, and in-form striker Raj. Jammu & Kashmir set out to frustrate the attack by packing men inside their own box, but Minerva's suffocating counter-press and rapid wing circulation dismantled the setup.
Minerva shattered the opposition's defensive shape in just the 2nd minute. Winger Denamoni beat his fullback down the left flank and delivered a dangerous low cross into the six-yard box, where Chetan T. arrived on cue to slot home a crisp first-time finish.
The pressure remained relentless as Minerva hunted down every second ball in the attacking third. In the 14th minute, playmaker Yohenba spotted Raj peeling off his marker with a clever diagonal run. Slipped through cleanly on goal, Raj rounded the onrushing keeper and tucked the ball into the empty net, establishing a comfortable 2-0 cushion that Minerva carried into the interval while completely starving J&K of counter-attacking avenues.
Minerva went for the kill in the second half, using fresh legs from the bench to completely overwhelm the tiring Kashmiri backline with five unanswered goals.
The turning point came with the introduction of game-changer Mahesh. In the 61st minute, Mahesh capitalized on a loose backpass, driving into the box and rifling a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner to make it 3-0. Just three minutes later, in the 64th minute, Denamoni was rewarded for his persistent threat, latching onto a parried rebound inside the penalty box to drive a low strike into the net.
From that moment on, Mahesh ran riot. In the 65th minute, he leaped high above the central defenders to direct a header past the keeper from a pinpoint Moosa corner. He secured his hat-trick in the 67th minute with a dipping 20-yard effort that left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot. Mahesh then capped off his performance in stoppage time (70+1'), skipping past two defenders inside the box to drill home his fourth goal of the morning and lock in the 7-0 rout.
