Millet- Mela organised in Government Home Science College

Ludhiana, March 29, 2023: Aligning with the Government of India’s initiative of positioning India as the ‘Global Hub of Millets’, Government Home Science College has always been instrumental in creating awareness about the consumption of Millets among heterogeneous groups of people. To carry forward the message of nutritional and health benefits of the consumption of Millets, students of Masters in Foods and Nutrition, Government Home Science College, Sector- 10, Chandigarh actively participated in 5th Poshan Pakhwada- 2023 and organized "Millet Mela"  within the premises of the college. They set up various stalls for sale cum display in the college reception area. A variety of recipes and products were prepared right from Chocochip Millet Muffins, Millet Bhel, Bajra Cookies etc. The staff members, students and the functionaries of ICDS scheme under the Department of Social Welfare visited the stalls put up by the students. Along with selling their products to the visitors, they were also apprised of the benefits of inculcating nutrient rich millets as part of their dietary habits.
The Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, encouraged the audience to include millets in their diets and appreciated the efforts of the students.
