She emphasized that girls with access to menstrual hygiene education and products are more likely to continue their education and participate fully in society and hence the families, educators, healthcare providers and employers need to realize their responsibility in creating environments where girls can manage menstruation with dignity and without barriers. She applauded the efforts of Grievances Redressal Cell of the college for organizing such awareness activities to open conversations about menstruation challenge taboos and promote gender equality. Dr. Deepali Luthra interacted with the students and educated them regarding sustainable menstrual products and hygiene management. She informed that many girls and women of rural areas still lack dignified, healthy ways to manage their menstruation, due to hurdles including gender inequality, discriminatory social norms and poverty. Stigma and taboos around menstruation fuel inadequate information, unhygienic practices and negative attitudes. This results in poor menstrual health that limits the girls’ right to attend school or work or to participate in society, diminishing their opportunities to thrive throughout life. She talked to students regarding the difficulties that the girls may experience during menstruation like irregular periods, heavy periods or painful periods and how to manage them and to seek timely medical advice. She motivated the students to maintain cleanliness, personal hygiene and taking care of proper nutrition. Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Convenor, Grievances Redressal Cell proposed the vote of thanks and said that the Cell is committed to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
