Ludhiana, July 5, 2025: A long-pending demand of Ludhiana residents has finally been fulfilled, thanks to the persistent efforts of Punjab Cabinet Minister for Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs, Sanjeev Arora. The office of Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), currently operating from Akashdeep Complex, Gyan Singh Rarewala Market, will be relocated to a more spacious and accessible venue at Global Business Park, G.T. Road, Near Jalandhar Bye Pass, Village Bhora, Ludhiana.
The new PSK facility will officially start operations from July 7, 2025, providing a much-needed relief to passport applicants of the region.
Sanjeev Arora, who earlier served as Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), played a pivotal role in pursuing the issue consistently with the Ministry of External Affairs. He had written multiple letters to the External Affairs Minister — beginning with the first one on February 3, 2023. In response to Arora's letter dated February 3, 2023, the Minister for External Affairs informed him on February 28, 2023, that the process of shifting the PSK to a suitable location was already underway. Later, Arora sent follow-up communications on March 17, October 29, and December 20 of the same year. His most recent follow-up was on February 5, 2025, where he strongly urged the Centre to take immediate action, citing the inadequate infrastructure and inconvenient access at the existing PSK location.
In his communication, Arora highlighted several critical concerns including the poor condition of the current building, lack of parking facilities, and an uncomfortable waiting area for citizens. These issues, he emphasised, were affecting the efficiency of services and causing hardship to the general public.
His sustained follow-up and dedicated representation finally bore fruit with the Ministry giving the green signal for relocation — a decision that will benefit a large number of residents of Ludhiana and surrounding areas.
Arora said, “I am deeply satisfied that my consistent efforts over the past two years have finally yielded results.” He said that the earlier location was completely inadequate — it lacked basic infrastructure, parking space, and even a dignified waiting area for citizens, adding, “I took up this matter relentlessly with the Ministry of External Affairs, not once but multiple times, because the people of Ludhiana deserve better.”
He hoped that the new facility at Global Business Park will be far more accessible and citizen-friendly. He further hoped that it will significantly improve the overall passport service experience.
Concluding, he said, “I remain committed to addressing such issues with the same sincerity and urgency.”
