MDU VC Prof. Punia calls upon Youth to Embrace Sports Instead of Social Media; 5 km marathon at MDU
MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that the youth should engage in sports rather than wasting time on social media. He urged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and run to maintain good health and prevent obesity.
Rohtak, July 12, 2026: MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that the youth should engage in sports rather than wasting time on social media. He urged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and run to maintain good health and prevent obesity.
The Vice-Chancellor flagged off the five-kilometer marathon held at the MDU sports complex on Sunday as the chief guest. He congratulated the organizing body, Kairos Club, for conducting the marathon and honored the winners. He called upon the youth to make fitness an integral part of their daily routine.
Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal, present as the guest of honor, also encouraged the youth to adopt regular exercise and sports activities. Sports Director Dr. Shakuntala Beniwal remarked that such competitions serve as a powerful medium to foster sportsmanship and discipline among the youth. Sunita Chaudhary (wife of the Vice-Chancellor) and Rakhi Gupta (wife of the Registrar) were also present on the occasion and boosted the morale of the participants.
In the girls' category, Ankita secured first place, Srishti second and Kavita third; in the boys' category, Vijay took first place, Krish second, and Pritam third. Marathon coordinator Preeti Bansal explained that the event aimed to raise awareness about fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth. Other dignitaries and participants present included BJP State Treasurer Ajay Bansal, social worker Rajendra Bansal, Rohit Bansal, Rajkumar Kapoor, Ryan, Samieara Bansal, Rayansh Bansal, and Swastika Jain.
