MDU celebrates Independence Day with patriotic fervour; VC calls for meaningful contribution to nation-building

Rohtak, August 15, 2026: Independence Day was celebrated with solemn dignity and patriotic fervor today in Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU). Vice Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia hoisted the national flag in the Independence Day function organized in the Tagore Auditorium, in the presence of the University community.
MDU Vice Chancellor paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the cause of India’s independence. He said that the need of the hour was to contribute meaningfully towards nation building. He said that the students of the University Campus School and the University are the future of the nation. The dream and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a developed nation, Viksit Bharat@2047 will be realized by the efforts of the students.
The Vice Chancellor said that the future of the nation will be built upon the foundations of Education, Research and Innovation. He said that the future development road map of University Campus School and the University will be based on student-centric initiatives facilitating holistic growth and development of the students.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Punia called for inculcating moral values and ethical norms in students.. He urged upon the teachers to contribute positively towards shaping the overall personality of the students and facilitate their career goals.
The Director, University Campus School Prof. Puja Suneja presented the annual report of the School highlighting the achievements of the school. Student achievers of the University Campus School were felicitated in the function.
Students of University Campus School and the University presented a brief cultural programme in the function. Students recited patriotic poetry, delivered speech and presented dances on the theme of patriotism, national integration and Unity in Diversity. Earlier, NCC Cadets did a march after the hoisting of the national flag.
Sunita Punia, wife of Vice Chancellor, and Rakhi Bansal, wife of Registrar graced the Independence Day Function.

Maan, Dean Students' Welfare Prof. Sapna Garg, Proctor Prof.Randeep Rana, Dean CDC Prof.Rajesh Punia, Deans of Faculties, Head of Depts., other University functionaries, President MDUTA Dr. Pradeep Kumar, President MDUNTEA Suresh Kumar, other office-bearers, faculty members, teachers of University Campus School, University Officials, parents & guardians, students of the school & teaching departments , other guests were present in the Independence Day function.
The Independence Day function was organized jointly by the Dean, Student Welfare Office, University Campus School, and the General Administration Office of the University.
