Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Chhina and MC Chief Dr Gupta hold meeting to expedite development works; ensure potable water supply to every household

Ludhiana, March 5, 2026: With an aim to expedite development works, ensure potable water supply to residents and clean sewer lines, Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, Ludhiana South MLA Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina and MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta held a meeting at MC Zone C office (Gill Road) on Thursday.
The concerned officials have been directed to expedite the ongoing development works and ensure that the projects for reconstruction of roads, installation of tubewells, laying of sewer lines etc are completed within stipulated time period.
Further, it was directed the officials to ensure potable water supply to the residents. Emphasis was also given upon stopping illegal construction of labour quarters and colonies. Illegal construction of labour quarters and colonies are putting additional burden on the existing sewer system resulting in overflowing sewer lines.
Zonal Commissioner Gurpal Singh, SE Harpreet Singh, ATP Randhir Singh, Zonal Superintendent Abdul Sattar among other officials of B&R branch, O&M cell, tehbazaari wing, building branch etc were present in the meeting.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur, MLA Chhina and MC Commissioner Dr Gupta stated that no laxity would be tolerated and strict departmental action would also be taken against the concerned officials, if there is any delay in the development works.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MLA Chhina reaffirmed the commitment of state government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Singh Mann to serve the public. They stated that the development works are being monitored on a regular basis and no laxity would be tolerated in terms of quality of works.
MC Chief conducts inspection at Zone C office:
Earlier, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta alongwith Zonal Commissioner Gurpal Singh also conducted an inspection at MC Zone C office on Gill road.
Necessary directions were issued and the civic body officials/staff were directed to ensure hassle-free services for the residents.
