Dharamshala, November 9, 2025: Now another fire incident has been reported from the Jwalamukhi area, raising suspicions of foul play once again. A massive blaze broke out between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning in the Fakloh area of Jwalamukhi, completely destroying the warehouse of a tent house located in Ward No. 1. The initial loss has been estimated at around ₹80 lakh.
According to reports, the fire was noticed around 5 a.m. on Sunday when a local resident informed the tent house owner, Samita Chaudhary, about the incident. By the time Samita and others reached the site, the fire had taken a severe turn, gutting tents, around 200 beds, chairs, tables, counters, mats, utensils, crockery, and other decorative materials stored in the godown.
A fire brigade from Jwalamukhi rushed to the spot immediately, and another team from Dehra was called in to assist due to the intensity of the blaze. After sustained efforts, the fire was finally brought under control.
Owner Samita Chaudhary suspects that the fire was deliberately set, claiming that this was not the first attempt to target her business. She recalled a similar incident before the COVID-19 pandemic when her tent house, then located in Darang, was also allegedly set on fire.
Samita, who has been running the business single-handedly for the past five years following her husband’s death, said this tragedy has left her family devastated. “This was not just my business, it was my only source of livelihood,” she said, visibly distressed.
Jwalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratna visited the site to assess the damage and met the affected family. He directed the administration to provide immediate relief and assured all possible assistance. Police and fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, with suspicions pointing toward miscreant activity.
