Rohtak/New Delhi, November 1, 2026: Haryana recorded a significant presence at the INDIA bloc rally held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, with Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda playing a key role in mobilising party leaders, workers and supporters from across the state. The Congress claimed that more than one lakh people from Haryana attended the rally, meeting the target set by Hooda ahead of the event.
The mobilisation followed a series of meetings held by junior Hooda with party leaders and workers over the past few days. Several supporters reportedly reached Delhi on the evening of October 31, while others travelled early on the day of the rally.
The rally coincided with a BJP programme in Rohtak, Hooda’s parliamentary constituency, which was attended by the party’s national president Nitin Nabin and RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary. Despite the simultaneous political engagements, the Congress managed to mobilise a sizeable contingent from Haryana.
Congress leaders and workers also alleged that vehicles heading towards Delhi faced repeated checks by Haryana Police at several points, including along the GT Road. They claimed that document verification and traffic restrictions caused delays and congestion on routes leading to the national capital. However, these hurdles did not significantly affect the participation, according to party leaders.
Hooda had been coordinating the mobilisation through individual meetings with senior party leaders, sitting and former MPs, MLAs, former ministers and organisational functionaries. During these interactions, he sought estimates of the number of supporters each leader and worker could bring to the rally. The figures were subsequently compiled and shared with the party high command and rally organisers.
His organisational role had also drawn attention during Rahul Gandhi’s recent march to the Supreme Court, where Haryana Congress workers participated in large numbers.
The substantial turnout from Haryana is being viewed within the Congress as a reflection of the party’s organisational mobilisation in the state. Party leaders have appreciated Hooda’s efforts, while the rally also provided an opportunity for the Haryana unit to demonstrate its strength at a major national-level political event.
