MANN GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO ERADICATE WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION RELATED PROBLEMS IN ALL VILLAGES OF PUNJAB: JIMPA

Chandigarh, January 31, 2023: To address grievances of people related to clean drinking water and sanitation, Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa on Tuesday announced that a state-level 'Janta Darbar' will soon be organised in the state.

He said that guidelines have already been issued to the Water Supply and Sanitation Department in this regard.
Divulging further details, Jimpa said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to provide top-class facilities to the people of Punjab. He said that the CM Mann has categorically instructed the officials that all citizens of Punjab should get supply of clean drinking water and all their problems must be solved, therefore, the dream of CM could be fulfilled of making the state again as Rangla Punjab.

He said that in order to fulfill the objective of serving people, an online Janta Darbar will be organized by the Water Supply and Sanitation Department in which any people can lodge their grievance related to the department by connecting through the online link given. He said that every effort will be made to solve the problems on the spot.

He further said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, piped supply of drinking water has been provided in every village of the state. Apart from this, in villages where ground water is not potable and where canal water has not yet been accessed, Arsenic-cum-Iron Removal Plant or RO plants have been set up.

The Cabinet Minister said that funds have been sought from the Central Government for improving the water quality in the border districts so that clean drinking water can be provided in all houses there.

The Water Supply and Sanitation Minister informed that 31 testing labs have been set up in the state to measure the quality of water. One is a state-level testing lab, six are at area-level, 17 are district labs and seven are block-level labs.

He said the Punjab government led by CM Mann is working assiduously to ensure that people of the state get clean and quality drinking water and has been making all out efforts in this direction. Apart from this, many schemes have been launched by the Punjab Government to ensure sanitation in the villages.
