Psychology experts highlighted this while addressing university staff during a training program organized at MDU.
In the program organized under the aegis of the Administrative Staff College, Prof. Anjali Malik (HoD Psychology) and Prof. Deepti Hooda (Professor of Psychology and In-charge of the Happitude Laboratory) participated as subject experts, discussing key aspects of stress management and mental health.
Prof. Anjali Malik cited statistics to illustrate that stress impacts not only a person's mental health but also their physical well-being. She noted that stress is becoming a common issue due to increasing work pressure and changing lifestyles. She recommended regular practice of mindfulness techniques and deep breathing exercises as effective measures for managing stress.
Prof. Deepti Hooda stated that over thinking and negative thinking exacerbate stress. She emphasized that stress can be significantly controlled by adopting a positive outlook and viewing situations with a balanced perspective. She also provided participants with practical tips to reduce stress and maintain mental equilibrium.
Ashok Sachdeva, Coordinator of the Administrative Staff College, delivered the welcome address, while Assistant Coordinator Dr. Nitin Siwach proposed the vote of thanks. Staff members and in-charges from various departments of MDU participated in the training program.
