Ludhiana: Municipal Councillor Mamta Ashu, on behalf of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, on Saturday kick-started the distribution of the wheat to the beneficiaries under the Smart ration Card Scheme in the Sunet locality of the city.

Accompanied by District Food and Supply Controller Harveen Kaur, Food Supply Officer Jaswinder Singh, Inspector Rahul Kaushal, Councillors Hari Singh Brar and Sunil Kapoor, Mamta Ashu said that the Punjab government has brought complete transparency in the distribution of wheat to the needy through EPos machines and the program has become a boon for the poor families by ensuring distribution of the foodgrains to the real beneficiaries.

She said that under the Smart Ration Card Scheme about 38 lakh families and around 1.45 crore family members of Punjab are getting wheat at Rs 2 only.

She added that in Ludhiana, 4.45 lakh families have been availing wheat at Rs 2 only under the smart ration card scheme.
