Nilokheri, September 17, 2026: Dr Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of  Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD) called upon young engineers to make speed, quality, transparency and timely execution the core principles of development projects.

Addressing trainee engineers at a three-day training programme organised jointly with the Haryana Quality Assurance Authority, Dr Chauhan said development works must be executed with technical competence and a strong sense of responsibility. He stressed the need for regular monitoring and adherence to prescribed quality standards.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on speed, quality and continuous review, he said officials and employees should discharge their duties with sincerity, accountability and technical efficiency.

A plantation drive was also organised on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday. Dr Chauhan said planting trees was only the beginning, and their regular care and protection were equally important.

Programme coordinator Dr Sushil Mehta said junior engineers of the Panchayati Raj Department were being trained in quality assessment, technical inspection, construction materials, quality control and compliance with technical standards.

Quality Assurance Authority official Arun Bhatia stressed regular inspections, adherence to standards and technical vigilance for ensuring quality construction. Assistant Professor Sandeep Kumar, junior engineers and officials from various districts also attended the programme.
