Lyallpur Khalsa College Punjabi Sahit Sabha organizes Punjabi Literary Competition -2026

Jalandhar, March 5, 2026: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar has achieved remarkable success in academics, sports and cultural activities over the years. Various student bodies and societies of the college play a vital role in preparing students for state and national level events. Continuing this tradition, the Punjabi Sahit Sabha of the Post Graduate Punjabi Department has been actively working to promote literary interests among students and encourage their creative expression.
To nurture literary talent, the Punjabi Sahit Sabha regularly organizes literary competitions for students. Recently, inter-departmental competitions in Punjabi poetry, essay and story writing were organized to mark International Mother Language Day. Around 60 students enthusiastically participated in these competitions, showcasing their creativity and literary skills.
On this occasion, College Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu congratulated the participating students and encouraged them to continue taking part in such literary activities. He also honoured the winners of various competitions with certificates and mementos for their achievements. In the poetry writing competition, M.A. Punjabi student Jasmeet Kaur won the first prize, while Jasmeet Kaur of B.A. Semester 4 secured the second position. Ruby Bagha of B.Com Semester 4 and Baljinder Kaur of B.P.T. First Year jointly secured the third position.
In the essay writing competition, Mandeep Kaur of M.A. Punjabi Semester 4 won the first prize. Gautam Kumar of B.Sc. Semester 4 and Shivani of B.A. Semester 4 secured the second position, while Mamta of B.Sc. Semester 4 and Satwant Kaur of B.P.T. First Year were declared joint third prize winners. In the story writing competition, Manpreet Kaur of M.A. Punjabi Semester 4 won the first prize, Simranjit Kaur of M.A. Punjabi Semester 4 secured the second position and Prabhleen Kaur of B.Sc. Semester 2 won the third prize.
Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Coordinator Prof. Kuldeep Sodhi delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Preeti, Dr. Sandeep Kaur Cheema and Prof. Sahil played an important role in conducting the competitions smoothly, while Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra prepared the certificates and maintained the records. Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Prof. Sandeep Singh, Prof. Kanwaljit and Prof. Ajay were also present on the occasion.
