Lyallpur Khalsa College Organizes Skill Enhancement Workshop on Writing Effective Cover Letters and CVs
The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, organized a Skill Enhancement Workshop on the topic “How to Write Cover Letter & CV for Getting a Job.”

Jalandhar, October 13, 2025: The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, organized a Skill Enhancement Workshop on the topic “How to Write Cover Letter & CV for Getting a Job.”
The primary objective of the workshop was to help students understand the art and technique of writing a professional cover letter and preparing an effective CV — essential tools for securing suitable employment opportunities in today’s competitive job market.
The resource person for the session, Dr. Charanjit Singh, Convener of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell, conducted an insightful and interactive session. He explained in detail how a well-crafted cover letter can make a candidate stand out among numerous applicants and how a well-structured CV reflects a student’s academic achievements, skills, and strengths.
Dr. Singh also guided students on the kind of skill-building activities they should undertake during their college years to enhance their CVs. He further discussed various national and international job platforms where students can upload their CVs to explore employment prospects beyond geographical boundaries.
The session was graced by Principal Dr. Suman Chopra, who addressed the students and commended the initiative of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell for organizing such a career-oriented workshop. She emphasized that in today’s job scenario, the ability to present oneself professionally through a well-written cover letter and a concise, impactful CV is a crucial employability skill.
Vice Principal Dr. Navdeep Kaur also appreciated the efforts of the Cell and encouraged students to take maximum advantage of such opportunities.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from around 60 students from different streams. Other attendees included members of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell — Dr. Ratnakar Mann and Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra — along with faculty members Dr. Geetanjali Mahajan (Department of English) and Prof. Sandeep Singh (Department of Punjabi).
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students received practical advice on resume improvement, formatting, and job application strategies. The workshop proved to be highly informative, motivating, and beneficial, equipping students with valuable skills to confidently step into the job market.
