Lyallpur Khalsa College organizes Annual Sports Day with grandeur

Jalandhar, February 24, 2026: Lyallpur Khalsa College is known for its achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, and the college administration does not leave any stone unturned for the overall growth of its students and teachers. Keeping this vision intact, the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the college organized its Annual Sports Day to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents. The chief guest of the event was the Olympian, statesman, and MLA Pargat Singh. He was duly received by the Principal of the college along with the Dean of Sports and piloted to the main venue by NCC cadets. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu and the Dean of Sports, along with Heads of various departments, gave a floral welcome to Pargat Singh. He, along with the senior staff members, was introduced to the lined-up players.
Principal Dr. Sandhu, in his address, appreciated the zeal and zest of the chief guest for sports events. He emphasized that physical activities reduce stress levels and promote mental well-being, which are major health concerns globally. Pargat Singh, in his address, reminisced about his days on the LKC grounds. He said that physical activities and consistent practice of any game on the ground do not go in vain. He added that sports build stamina and keep the body active. He appealed to the youth to participate in physical activities and sports and stay away from drugs, which naturally contributes to the mission of nation-building. He flagged off the sports meet with good wishes for all participants.
The event started with a volleyball match between Arts Avengers and Science Smashers. The chain of events included volleyball, 800 m race, shot put, and long jump for boys, while girls participated in Fun & Fitness Race, tug of war, shot put, and three-legged race. The parallel running of events with such a variety presented a spectacular sight. Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains, Dean of Sports, said that the whole event, planned and executed by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, focused on fun and fitness.
During the event, in volleyball (boys), Arts Avengers won first position, Computer Crusaders grabbed second, and Commerce Champions remained third. In the 800 m boys race, Sukhjinder Singh, Anand Sharma, and Chandan Jassal secured first, second, and third positions, respectively. In long jump (boys), Avinash, Naem Abass, and Nirbhay got first, second, and third positions, respectively, while in shot put (boys), Sahilpreet, Tarunpreet, and Taranpreet were declared first, second, and third winners.
In female events, Fun and Fitness saw Science Smashers win first position, Art Avengers second, and Commerce Champions third, while in shot put, Amrit Kaur, Manroop Kaur, and Harkirat Kaur were declared first, second, and third winners. In tug of war, Arts Avengers won first position, Computer Crusaders grabbed second, and Commerce Champions remained third. The three-legged race results were: First position – Ashima and Palak (B.Com Sem-II), Second position – Ramandeep and Gurleen (BSc Med Sem-II), Third position – Simran and Anjali (BPT-III).
Later, tug of war and lemon race were organized for teaching and non-teaching staff, in which the teaching staff achieved the following: in tug of war and lemon race, Prof. Livpreet, Prof. Kiran/Vishali, and Prof. Navjot Kaur got first, second, and third positions, respectively. At last, Dr. Bains paid a vote of thanks and acknowledged the sincere efforts of all teaching and non-teaching staff.
