Lyallpur Khalsa College organizes a face-to-face program of migrant Punjabi writer Charan Singh and students  

Jalandhar, March 2, 2023: The Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of Post Graduate Department of Punjabi, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, an eminent academic institution of North India, organized a face-to-face program of students of the college and migrant Punjabi writer Charan Singh. The principal of the college, Prof. Jasreen Kaur, honored the chief guest with a badge of honor. 

Speaking during her welcome remarks, Principal Jasreen Kaur said that Lyallpur Khalsa College is always committed to the advancement of Punjabi literature and culture and such programs are a part of this purpose. She highly appreciated the Department of Punjabi and Punjabi Sahitya Sabha for such efforts. Head of Department of Punjabi, Dr. Surinderpal Mand and coordinator of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Prof. Kuldeep Sodhi said that Mr. Charan Singh is such a writer who has adapted different aspects and experiences of life in his literary work. He said that so far he has handed over 73 literary books to the readers and some books are under printing. He expressed happiness on the occasion and said that the old students of our college are contributing to the promotion of Punjabi language and literature at the global level today. During the face-to-face meeting, Charan Singh shared his thoughts with the students regarding his literary journey. On the basis of his literary work, he shared knowledge-enhancing ideas about Marxism, modernism, post-modernism and globalization, Canadian life/immigration with the students. During his lecture, he became emotional reminiscing about his college days and said why he was proud to be a student of Lyallpur Khalsa College. In this face-to-face program, the students of different departments of the college participated enthusiastically and listened to the author's views with great enthusiasm. Students were engaged in standard question-and-answer sessions with the author on literary topics and literary works. 

In the end, Prof. Sodhi, coordinator of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha, thanked the migrant writer, teachers and students who came and asked about planning such programs in the future. Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, Prof. Balraj Singh, Prof. Preeti and Prof. Bhavna were also present on this occasion.
