The Postgraduate Punjabi Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, a leading educational institution in North India that has pioneered new steps in education and culture, organized an interaction with renowned expatriate Punjabi writer Gurcharan Saggu.
Jalandhar, February 23, 2026: The Postgraduate Punjabi Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, a leading educational institution in North India that has pioneered new steps in education and culture, organized an interaction with renowned expatriate Punjabi writer Gurcharan Saggu.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu welcomed the guests and praised Saggu for his tremendous contribution to literature. The new novel Lajjo by Gurcharan Saggu was also unveiled during the event.
Later, Vishal, a famous Punjabi poet and editor of the literary magazine Mantav, discussed his book, highlighting that the creation of every writer arises from inner turmoil. He explained that a writer first destroys himself to create something, and only then is his literary work fully realized.
Gurcharan Saggu shared insights into his life, literary journey, and the bittersweet experiences of filmmaking in Mumbai. He inspired the students by emphasizing that no matter how many challenges come in life, a person should never give up. Head of the Department of Punjabi, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, thanked the guests and expressed pride in hosting a personality like Gurcharan Saggu. He added that Saggu’s words and works will serve as a source of inspiration for students.
Prof. Sandeep Singh played the role of stage manager for the event, presenting it in a poetic and literary style. Also present were Dr. Harjit Singh, Dr. Jaswant Kaur, Manjit Kaur, heads and professors of various departments, all professors of the Punjabi department, and a large number of students.
