LUDHIANA WEST BY-ELECTION: Second randomization of EVMs held in presence of General Observer, DEO, candidates and reps of political parties
The second round of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) randomization for the Ludhiana West by-election, scheduled for June 19, was conducted at the District Administrative Complex in the presence of representatives from various political parties and independent candidates.

Ludhiana, June 9, 2025: The second round of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) randomization for the Ludhiana West by-election, scheduled for June 19, was conducted at the District Administrative Complex in the presence of representatives from various political parties and independent candidates.
The process was overseen by General Observer Rajiv Kumar, IAS, and District Election Officer Himanshu Jain.
District Election Officer Jain said that a total of 194 polling booths including two auxiliary polling booths would be set up for Ludhiana West by-election on which EVMs, as well as VVPAT machines, would be installed based on the number of this allocation. EVMs and VVPAT machines at par with the number of polling booths were randomized today, and additional Control Units, Ballot Units, and VVPATs were also kept on reserve that can be used in case of any machine malfunctions.
Jain further explained that randomization of EVMs carried out ahead of fixing the names and symbols of 14 candidates in fray in Ludhiana West by-election and NOTA. Based on the numbers allotted after the randomization, the EVMs would be sent to the polling booths.
The representatives of various political parties from BJP, Congress, SAD, SAD (A), independent candidates Albert Dua, Er. Baldev Raj Katna, Er. Paramjit Singh Bharaj, Pawandeep Singh, was also shown the randomization process of EVM and VVPAT machines. The lists of the randomized EVMs and VVPATs were also handed over to them after the completion of the exercise.
