Ludhiana, May 27, 2025: To facilitate voting in the Ludhiana West by-elections, a paid holiday has been declared on June 19, 2025, under Section 135-B (1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. This applies to all employees in industrial establishments, businesses, trades, shops, or other establishments, including those working on a shift basis, who are entitled to vote on the polling day for Ludhiana West by-election.
Employees registered as electors in the Ludhiana West constituency, including those employed outside the constituency (e.g., in industrial undertakings or other establishments), are also entitled to this paid holiday. This provision also extends to daily wage and casual workers, as mandated by Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
