Ludhiana Records Significant Decline in Dengue and Chikungunya Cases in 2025
Ludhiana, 01 November 2025: The District of Ludhiana has recorded comparatively fewer dengue and chikungunya cases in 2025, marking an encouraging sign of effective public health interventions and active community participation.
Till date, Ludhiana has reported 396 cases of dengue and 1 case of chikungunya, showing a significant decline compared to 2023, when the district witnessed a major surge in cases due to heavy rains and water stagnation. This year’s positive trend comes despite similar climatic conditions.
Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Civil Surgeon Ludhiana, stated that the district’s proactive efforts under the “Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar” campaign have been instrumental in controlling the spread of vector-borne diseases. “Through coordinated field activities, timely surveillance, and community engagement, Ludhiana has successfully contained the mosquito population and minimized transmission,” she added.
Under this campaign, joint health teams comprising local health staff, nursing students, and ASHA workers have been conducting door-to-door awareness drives, source reduction activities, and larval surveillance across both urban and rural areas of Ludhiana.
Health teams have been visiting households throughout the district, with special focus on high-risk zones. They have identified and eliminated mosquito breeding sites, carried out IEC (Information, Education & Communication) activities, and encouraged residents to maintain dry and clean surroundings.
Dr. Ramandeep Kaur further noted that there has been a marked reduction in dengue-related complications and hospitalizations this year, reflecting early detection, improved diagnostic coverage, and timely response by the health department.
As the months of October and November remain critical for mosquito breeding, residents are urged to continue practicing preventive measures such as keeping their premises clean, avoiding water stagnation, and participating actively in the “Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar” campaign.
The Civil Surgeon appealed to the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with field teams to ensure that Ludhiana continues its progress towards becoming dengue- and chikungunya-free.
Together, let’s “Halla Bol against Dengue by participating in Har Shukarvaar Dengue Te Vaar.”
