LPU’s Performing Arts Department organized spectacular music celebration -‘Sangmanch’
LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal honouring Punjabi Sufi singer Rabbi Shergill during a spectacular music celebration ‘Sangmanch’ at LPU campus.

Jalandhar: The Department of Performing Arts at Lovely Professional University organized a spectacular music celebration -‘Sangmanch’ on the occasion of "World Music Therapy Day”. World renowned Bollywood’s revolutionary Punjabi Sufi singer Rabbi Shergill reached the campus and enthralled thousands of LPU students belonging to diverse cultures and languages. His socially relevant poetical outbursts of originality connected the audience soulfully.

 

While sharing his chartbuster songs including ‘Bullah Ki Jaana maen Kaun; Jhalla kee labdha fire; Tere bin sanu sohniya and more; he talked about the significance of Punjabi music in present day music industry, world across.

 

Punjabi singer, songwriter, and guitarist; Shergill shared that he is equally inspired by rock and Punjabi folk music. His songs are deeply philosophical, where he blends ancient and forgotten Punjabi phrases into contemporary Indian rock music. He advised students to respect their own language and stand out as an authentic artiste. He also expressed that music allows people to communicate through music where they fail in words.

 

World music therapy day is celebrated every year, where people around the world celebrate the healing power of music. On this occasion, LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal honoured the visiting global artist, and praised him for upholding the cultural heritage of the country. She was accompanied by Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sanjay Modi and Dean Dr Pavittar Parkash Singh.

 

On this eve, talented students of the department also performed mesmerising devotional recitals, classical vocal, group song, Sufi, folk, raags, and played in Indian & western orchestra.
