LPU’s Bhangra team members selected for the 74th National Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi  

Jalandhar, December 26, 2022: Bhangra team of Lovely Professional University (LPU), comprising its students from different professional programmes, is selected for the 74th National Republic Day celebrations to be held in New Delhi on 26th January 2023. The LPU team will walk alongside the Punjab state tableau, and perform the ‘Bhangra dance’ in front of Hon’ble Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other national & international dignitaries.

The students were selected after a rigorous selection process at zonal, state and national levels conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The LPU team is selected for the ‘Vande Bharatam Nritya Utsav’, which is part of the cultural showcase during the Republic Day 2023 celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Before this, the Ministry of Culture through various competitions had selected 980 dancers from across the country.

Bhangra team members from LPU along with their instructor Kamalpreet Kalsi also include students Aaryan Sharma, Amritpal Singh, Harsimarjit Singh, Onkarpreet Singh, Abhinav Kumar.

Congratulating the selected students, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal shared: “We all at LPU are feeling proud as this selection has provided a great chance for our students to showcase Indian culture, customs and traditions.” Mrs Mittal also applauded students for being passionate to keep alive the art and culture of the state and the country.”
