LPU Students upheld Mahatma Gandhi’s Doctrines
Occasion was Inter-School One Act Play Competition at LPU on the eve of 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Jalandhar, September 30, 2018: Celebrating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the nation, Department of Cultural Affairs at Lovely Professional University organized ‘Inter-School One Act Play Competition’ at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university, today. Ten one-act plays propagating ideologies and messages of Mahatma Gandhi were staged on this occasion. Each play was based on the theme ‘Mahatma Gandhi & his Principles’, and displayed relevance of those in the present day and age. Many Schools of the University came forward depicting Gandhi’s doctrines with enthralling performances and patriotic fervor. LPU School of Electronics & Electricals was declared winner; whereas, School of Computer Sciences & Engineering first runner-up; Mittal School of Business and Directorate of Open & Distance Learning declared 2nd Runner Up jointly. Highlighting, Messiah of peace, non-violence, truth and humane principles- Mahatma Gandhi always inspired people across the world to bring forth poems, stories short-plays, films based on his enthralling life and messages to awaken all. The upcoming 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2018 is to be celebrated as a great occasion to further explore the philosophy and ideals of the Mahatma through these and more mediums. So, to encourage actors and playwrights at the university, Inter-School One Act Play Competition was held at the university level.
