Jalandhar, February 7, 2023: Lovely Professional University has won the overall first runners-up trophy for the Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) North Zone inter-university youth fest-2023. Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur honoured LPU’s cultural activities students with the trophy and accolades. The occasion was a five-day 36th inter-university fest “Antarnaad” held at the University of Jammu.

LPU is also declared overall champion in literary events; and, first runners up in the events for music, cultural procession, theatre, dance and fine arts competitions. Hundreds of students from 18 universities of the zone in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu-Kashmir competed in 28 categories.

It is the biggest event in the zone for further ensuring students’ participation in the national & inter-university competitions. With untiring practices and mentored talents, LPU students won top positions in 25 of the total 28 competitive categories of the fest for further participation and winnings at the national level. The mega event was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, Government of India.

Exhibiting their winning talents; LPU students of different professional programmes grabbed 7 gold medals in light vocal, debate, mime, collage making, clay modelling, rangoli, and, installation competitions; 13 silver medals in western solo, Indian group song, folk orchestra, western instrumental, folk dance, one-act play, skit, on the spot painting, poster making, cartooning, photography, mehndi, and cultural procession; and, 5 bronze medals in the categories of quiz, classical vocal, classical instrumental (percussion); classical dance, and elocution.

Congratulating the winning students, LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal shared that “LPU credits this prestigious achievement to talented students and their mentors at the university. I am also happy to share that LPU students are continuously excelling in various other competitive fields. Be it research, placements, academics, sports, culture or any other activity; LPU students are always proving their capabilities in excellence. I wish them success in all of their future endeavours.”
