Chandigarh, January 12, 2026: The festival of Lohri was celebrated with immense joy and traditional fervour across the city and surrounding areas. Specially significant for Punjabis, Lohri brought a festive spirit to homes and public spaces alike. Families who had witnessed weddings or the birth of a son or grandson during the past year celebrated the occasion with special enthusiasm. Children were seen going door to door seeking Lohri, while women sang traditional folk songs. Late into the night, youth and children danced energetically to the beats of the dhol.
Meanwhile, Lohri was also celebrated in a traditional style at malls across Chandigarh, Mohali and the Tri-City. At HLP Galleria Mall, the event was organised on the theme “Virsae De Rang, HLP De Sang,” showcasing the rich Punjabi folk culture and heritage. CM Security Officer Kamal Sisodia graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
According to the organisers, such cultural celebrations play an important role in connecting the younger generation with their roots and keeping Punjab’s vibrant traditions alive.
