Promises to take up Lal Dora boundary extension issue with Union Home Minister during his Chandigarh visit on November 1

Chandigarh, October 29, 2026: Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon has assured hotel and motel operators of Darwa village, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, of his full support amid concerns over notices issued by the Chandigarh Administration stating that their establishments fall outside the Lal Dora boundary and may face demolition.

“I assure you that I will not let anyone touch even a single brick of your properties. I stand firmly with you and will pursue this matter with the authorities to safeguard your interests,” Tandon told the operators, urging them to remain confident while he works towards a resolution.

Addressing their concerns, Tandon said the operators could bring the notices directly to him so that he could take them up with the concerned authorities and personally pursue the matter.

Tandon reiterated that he had been consistently working towards a permanent resolution of the Lal Dora issue, emphasising that extending the existing boundary was key to addressing the concerns of property owners whose establishments currently fall outside its ambit.

He said he would personally take up the matter, along with prominent Chandigarh BJP leader Rambir Bhatti, with the Union Home Minister during the latter’s scheduled visit to Chandigarh on November 1. Expressing confidence in a favourable outcome, Tandon said he believed that 99 per cent of the old properties would not face any issues.

The hotel and motel operators apprised Tandon of the notices issued by the Chandigarh Administration, expressing apprehension about the future of their establishments. They pointed out that they had been regularly paying GST and other applicable taxes but continued to face uncertainty because their properties fell outside the existing Lal Dora boundary.

Acknowledging their concerns, Tandon explained that administrative officials were required to undertake certain actions as the properties were situated beyond the notified boundary. However, he assured the operators that he would work towards a lasting solution to address their concerns and bring clarity to the status of their properties.

The operators also raised concerns over notices directing inspections of their premises. Tandon assured them that he would examine the matter and take up their grievances with the concerned authorities for an appropriate resolution.

Emphasising the importance of extending the Lal Dora boundary, Tandon said bringing properties currently located outside it within its ambit would address the fundamental concerns of the affected operators. He observed that while the boundary issue was central to their apprehensions, other concerns were largely transactional or operational and could be addressed separately.

Tandon reiterated his commitment to pursuing the matter with the appropriate authorities to secure a permanent resolution and provide relief to the affected property owners.
