Rohtak, August 7, 2026: Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, on Friday emphasized that adopting a healthy lifestyle is the key to preventing bone and joint disorders. He was addressing an awareness programme organised by the Department of Orthopaedics in the OPD complex as part of the Bone and Joint Week observance.
VC Dr. Aggarwal said that excessive mobile phone usage, reduced outdoor physical activity, and the growing dependence on junk food have significantly affected the musculoskeletal health of people across all age groups. "Back pain among children as young as 10 years and knee problems in people in their thirties have become increasingly common. Unless we make timely changes in our lifestyle, bone and joint disorders will emerge as one of the biggest health challenges in the future," he said.
Describing bones and joints as the foundation of the human body, the Vice-Chancellor said that a strong foundation is essential for a healthy individual, healthy family, healthy society, and a healthy nation. He stressed that most bone and joint problems can be prevented through greater awareness and simple modifications in daily habits.
Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Registrar Dr. Roop Singh urged parents and teachers to remain vigilant about symptoms such as stooping posture, frequent falls, or persistent bone pain among children and seek medical advice without delay.
