Chandigarh, February 6, 2026: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh described the broad daylight murder of AAP leader Lucky Oberoi outside a Gurdwara in Jalandhar as a horrifying example of the crumbling law and order situation in Punjab. Chugh said that the incident is not merely the killing of an individual but a grim symbol of the growing atmosphere of anarchy and the complete failure of the state government. He stated that such a heinous crime taking place outside a sacred religious place is a matter of serious concern for society.
Chugh said that when leaders of the ruling party themselves are not safe in public places, one can easily imagine the level of security available to ordinary citizens. He said the continuously rising gangster culture, crime, and violence in Punjab clearly show that the Bhagwant Mann government has completely failed in running the administration.
Chugh alleged that Arvind Kejriwal had promised to eradicate criminals and anti-social elements from Punjab, but the ground reality is that under the AAP government, Punjab is sinking deeper into fear, drug menace, organised crime, and administrative chaos. He said the Mann government appears more interested in political optics and propaganda rather than ensuring the safety and security of the people.
Chugh said Punjab, which was once known for its courage, prosperity, and social harmony, is today being pushed towards anarchy due to lack of leadership and sheer incompetence. He said the people of Punjab deserve a safe and dignified life and the state needs a government that is truly capable of governing.
