KVK Kinnaur Bags Best KVK Award for Excellence in Research and Extension
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kinnaur of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has been conferred with the prestigious Best KVK Award during the Kisan Samman Samaroh organized by Farm & Food.

The award ceremony was held at the Kisan Chamber, Mohali, and was attended by agricultural scientists, policymakers, progressive farmers, and representatives from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. KVK Kinnaur was recognized for its outstanding contribution towards the promotion and large-scale adoption of Natural Farming practices in the district.
Dr. Pramod Sharma, Associate Director (Research & Extension) and Head of KVK Kinnaur, attributed the achievement to consistent grassroots engagement and farmer-centric extension activities tailored to the specific needs of the region. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Farm & Food for acknowledging the KVK’s sustained efforts towards promoting sustainable agricultural development.
Adding further distinction to the occasion, Dr. Budhi Ram, Entomologist at KVK Kinnaur, was honoured with the Best Young Researcher Award for his significant contribution to the conservation of indigenous honey bees through farmer-centric eco-hive technology. In another proud moment for the district, Ashish Negi from Kinnaur, nominated by KVK Kinnaur, received the Best Farmer Award for his exemplary work in the marketing of organic fruit produce. His recognition underscores the successful impact of KVK’s guidance in promoting organic fruit cultivation, value addition, and strengthening market linkages, thereby setting a benchmark for progressive farmers in the region.
Congratulating the team, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, commended KVK Kinnaur for bringing laurels to the university. He remarked that such recognitions reflect the impactful extension and research work being carried out by the KVK and reaffirm the university’s commitment to promoting sustainable, climate-resilient and farmer-oriented agricultural practices.
Director of Extension Education, Dr. Inder Dev, also congratulated the KVK team and the awardees for their achievements and appreciated their continued efforts in strengthening agri-horti activities in the district.
