Kokilaben Hospital Navi Mumbai launches initiative to train 100,000 Navi Mumbaikars in Basic Life Support (CPR)

Navi Mumbai, March 9, 2023: Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai has announced the launch of a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training initiative for the people of Navi Mumbai. The initiative aims to train 100,000 people in the city in the skills needed to save lives in emergency situations. The CPR training session will train people to give CPR in a crisis where an individual has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The initial CPR training campaign will run from March 1 to March 31, 2023, and will be held at various locations, including corporate offices, public spaces, and at the hospital itself. 

 
The initiative has been named "The Revive Life Campaign" reflecting the hospital's commitment to promoting a culture of preparedness and responsiveness in the community. The event will target various groups, including corporate workers, residents of various societies, auto-rickshaw drivers, police, firefighters, NMMC workers, NMMT employees, college students, and the public attending events at malls, railway stations, and public gardens. 
 

Dr. Bipin Chevale, Director and Head, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai said, "In recent times, we have heard of multiple incidents of people suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac death is responsible for half of all heart disease deaths.1 In such cases, emergency CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation can revive the person and make the difference between life and death. We believe that CPR training is an essential life skill that everyone should possess. It can make the difference between life and death in an emergency. With the "The Revive Life Campaign" initiative, we will ensure that the people of Navi Mumbai are equipped with the skills they need to save lives and respond effectively in emergency situations." 
 

To achieve this goal, the hospital has established a task force comprising five teams of experts in CPR training. One team will be stationed at the hospital to conduct in-house training sessions, while the others will travel to various locations to offer hands-on training in adult CPR, as well as lectures on infant and child CPR. 
 

The hospital has also set up a registration committee to coordinate the registration of training participants. Participants can register in person, by mail, by phone, or online. The committee will ensure that there are enough instructors, manikins, and sessions to accommodate all participants.

It is essential skill and is easy to learn. It is important that as many people as possible are trained in this skill, as the victim needing CPR could be a friend or family member. Time is of the essence, and the earlier the victim is treated, the greater the chances of survival. When someone suddenly becomes unresponsive and is not breathing and has no pulse, it is extremely critical to get them stabilized to avert permanent damage with CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. 
 

The training offered under the "The Revive Life Campaign" initiative is free of cost, and participants are encouraged to sign up in advance to secure their spot. The hospital hopes that the initiative will create a culture of preparedness and responsiveness in the community, and ultimately save lives.
