KMV’s Physics’ teachers bags prestigious research grant from Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai

Jalandhar, April 9, 2023: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Dr Neetu Verma and Dr. Gopi Sharma PG Department of Physics have brought laurels to the institution. They have recently been awarded a research grant from the Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) in collaboration with Dr. P. Nandi  from Bhabha Atomic Reseach Centre, Mumbai. They have been awarded with research grant worth Rs. 25.5 Lakh for conducting research on the radiation shielding windows based on oxide glasses for three years. 

It is worth mentioning here that Dr. Verma and Dr. Gopi are conducting research on glasses and nano glass composites at KMV for various applications. Dr. Neetu Verma is recipient of prestigious Dinabandhu Sahu award for her innovative teaching methods from Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and many more awards like Best teacher awards, Best presentation awards from many agencies. She has also completed many research projects sanctioned by the Department of Science and Technology, University Grants Commission  and has also published papers in many international journals. Dr. Gopi Sharma is also the recipient of various national and international research grants & has completed more than 8 major research projects in collaboration with ENEA Italy, COE College, USA, Department of Science and Technology, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tata Institution of Fundamental Research, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Moreover, both of these teachers are also guiding Ph.D. students. 

Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulating both the teachers averred that PG Department of Physics at KMV is well equipped with highly sophisticated research labs supported by FIST and CURIE grants from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and it provide support to students and faculty to other institution to conduct research.
