Jalandhar, May 16, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) & KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School under Buddy Programme of Punjab Government organized a Mental Health Check-in booth.
The Buddy program aims to educate children about the ill-effects of drug abuse and generate positive peer influence through healthy practices. The aim of this Mental Health Check-In Booth was to support students experiencing stress, anxiety, or emotional challenges. The booth offered free mental health screenings, one on one sessions with mental health counselor, and practical coping strategies in a supportive, judgment-free space. A unique and commendable aspect of the initiative was the active involvement of +1 and 10+2 Psychology students, who conducted the stress, anxiety, and depression assessments for their peers. More than 110 students took part in the screenings and engaged in conversations about mental health, receiving practical coping strategies that they could apply in daily life. Students responded positively to the experience, appreciating the opportunity to talk openly and access help without stigma.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the students and encouraged them to be more active in such initiatives in order to spread awareness on pertinent issues such as the present one. She lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet (Dean, Department of Student Welfare) and Anand Prabha (Incharge, KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School) and staff members for successfully organising the program.
