KMVites gain Hands-On experience in Medical Technology at Sacred Heart Hospital
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P. G. Department of Zoology organized an Educational Trip to Sacred Heart Hospital, Jalandhar for the students of B.Sc. (Honours) (Medical Laboratory Technology) semester I & III and B.Sc. (Biotechnology) semester III. Students visited sample collection center and learnt how to take blood sample in different vials according to tests prescribed by doctor.

Jalandhar, September 24, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P. G. Department of Zoology organized an Educational Trip to Sacred Heart Hospital, Jalandhar for the students of B.Sc. (Honours) (Medical Laboratory Technology) semester I & III and B.Sc. (Biotechnology) semester III. Students visited sample collection center and learnt how to take blood sample in different vials according to tests prescribed by doctor.
In Blood Bank, Dr. Gurwinder Singh demonstrated the students about protocols followed while collection of blood, component separation, apheresis and storage of blood. Students also visited various labs viz. pathology, microbiology, histopathology, hematology, biochemistry and specimen storage unit, where lab technicians demonstrated various analysis like serological, hematological and hormonal detection. Dr. Kamalpreet Kaur explained about various branches of microbiology and gave information regarding sensitivity test for different microbes. Lab technicians also explained various diagnostic analyses to the students.
Principal (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the successful organization of the hospital visit arranged for the students. She acknowledged the efforts of the teachers, coordinators, and hospital staff who worked together to provide students with a meaningful and educational experience. She noted that such visits played a vital role in broadening students’ perspectives and enhancing their understanding of the healthcare system.
