KMVites Gain Financial Literacy in Workshop with NISM
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) continues to strive for the holistic development of its students. In line with this vision, the P.G. Department of Commerce and Business Administration and the Centre for Competitive Exams, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), organised a workshop on Financial Literacy and Career Opportunities in the Securities Market for students of M.Com (FYIP) Sem. V, B.Com (Pass & Honours) Sem. V, BBA Sem. V, M.Com Sem. III and B.Voc. (MSP) Sem. V.

Jalandhar, August 30, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) continues to strive for the holistic development of its students. In line with this vision, the P.G. Department of Commerce and Business Administration and the Centre for Competitive Exams, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), organised a workshop on Financial Literacy and Career Opportunities in the Securities Market for students of M.Com (FYIP) Sem. V, B.Com (Pass & Honours) Sem. V, BBA Sem. V, M.Com Sem. III and B.Voc. (MSP) Sem. V.
The resource person, Anita Saini, enlightened students on a wide range of topics including the importance of investment, financial opportunities, prerequisites for investing in the securities market, and IPOs (investment in primary markets). She explained the Rule of 72 and its application in planning investments across various options like gold, real estate, equity, and fixed deposits.
Saini further highlighted financial planning strategies such as setting clear goals, diversifying funds, and understanding the impact of inflation on investments. She also guided students through the widely acclaimed 50-30-20 rule of money management, emphasizing the balance between expenses, savings, and investments.
In addition to financial literacy, she acquainted students with diverse career avenues in the securities market, including Investment Banking, Portfolio Management, Financial Advisory Services, Stock Broking, Equity Research, and Risk Management. The session was made engaging with real-life examples, and Saini responded to student queries with clarity and precision.
The workshop saw active participation from over 100 students.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed gratitude to the resource person and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Neeraj Maini, Dr. Sabina Batra, and the faculty team for organising such initiatives that keep students updated with the latest developments in the securities market.
