KMVites explore Heritage and Philosophy on Multidisciplinary Educational Trip to Himachal Pradesh

Jalandhar, April 19, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized a two-day educational trip to McLeodganj, Dharamshala and Kangra as a joint initiative of the Departments of Political Science, Philosophy, and Psychology. The visit aimed to provide experiential learning beyond classroom teaching, with students from different academic streams participating in the excursion. They were accompanied by Dr. Iqbal Singh and Dr. Ekta Saini, who guided them throughout the trip and helped them understand the historical, political, philosophical, and cultural significance of the region.
One of the major highlights of the visit was the trip to the Dalai Lama Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism and residence of Dalai Lama. The temple gave students an opportunity to observe Buddhist traditions, meditation practices, and the philosophy of compassion and non-violence, which holds relevance for political ethics and global peace studies. The group also explored the Bhagsunag Temple and the nearby Bhagsunag Waterfall, learning about the interrelationship between spirituality, environment, and human psychology.
Another key destination was the historic Kangra Fort, one of India’s oldest forts, where students gained insights into ancient political systems, regional kingdoms, and medieval governance and defense strategies. The exploration of various Buddhist monasteries further enriched their understanding of Tibetan culture, exile politics, and intercultural coexistence. Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasized that such educational visits translate the vision of practical and holistic learning into reality, helping students develop industry-ready skills while fostering appreciation for India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
