Jalandhar, March 15, 2026: The P.G. Department of Zoology at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized an educational trip for students of B.Sc. Medical, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), and M.Sc. Zoology to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, Jalandhar. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to medical laboratories and modern diagnostic techniques, helping them better understand the applications of their academic studies.
During the visit, students explored the institute’s museum, where they observed a variety of preserved anatomical specimens and organs. This experience helped them gain deeper insight into human anatomy as well as different disease conditions. The museum visit allowed students to visualize concepts they had previously studied only in textbooks.
The students also toured several important laboratories at the institute, including the Blood Collection and Maintenance Center, Pathology Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, and Biochemistry Laboratory. Here, they learned about the process of blood donation, blood grouping, blood component separation, and preservation techniques. In addition, the students were introduced to various laboratory procedures used for disease diagnosis, microbial identification, and biochemical analysis of blood and urine samples.
The educational visit proved to be highly informative and enriching. It enabled the students to connect their theoretical knowledge with practical laboratory applications and provided them with valuable exposure to real-world medical and diagnostic environments.
Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the Department of Zoology for organizing such an informative educational trip and encouraged the department to continue arranging similar academic activities in the future for the overall learning and academic enrichment of students.
