KMV students take pledge to create a drug free society
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), Jalandhar, organized a Pledge-Taking Ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) in compliance with the directions issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Jalandhar, February 15, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), Jalandhar, organized a Pledge-Taking Ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) in compliance with the directions issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The initiative aims to sensitize youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to strengthen the nationwide campaign for a Drug-Free India. The programme was conducted on the college campus in the esteemed presence of Director Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, along with faculty members, staff, and students.
During the ceremony, all KMVites solemnly took the NMBA pledge, affirming their commitment to remain away from drugs and to actively contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free society. The participants also resolved to spread awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse among their peers, families, and the wider community.
The institution reaffirmed its dedication to supporting national initiatives and incorporating such awareness activities in its academic and co-curricular calendar to promote social responsibility and a sense of national commitment among students. Director Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare and Head Dept of English and Dr Ekta, Head Dept of Philosophy for this very relevant and thoughtful initiative.
