Jalandhar, August 2, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) took the initiative to spread awareness about health and hygiene among students. The event was organized by Department of Student Welfare and PG Department of English.
The girls were told about the maintenance of hygiene during their monthly cycle. It was described that menstruation is a normal and healthy part of life for females. Still, the lack of information leads to unhygienic and unhealthy menstrual practices and thus, creates misconceptions and negative attitudes. Sanitary pads were also distributed to the students to remove their hesitation and to make them aware of the importance of hygiene and cleanliness during their cycle.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that female hygiene is crucial to empowering women. She further maintained that menstruation-related social norms and taboos must be addressed through such initiatives. She also encouraged the students to raise awareness on the topic to create a society that is more enlightened on women's health.
Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet (Dean, Student Welfare & Head, PG Department of English) and staff for taking such a meaningful initiative.
