Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya paid a nostalgic tribute to Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh on his Martyrdom Day.  Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that every time she thought of the sacrifices of the magnitude of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, she was indeed humbled. She exhorted one and all to idolize the martyr like Bhagat Singh and carry forward the message of Bhagat Singh as this will be the true tribute to the national hero. It is a matter of great pride that KMV has a close connection with Bhagat Singh. He was very close to KMV’s then Principal Acharya Lajjawati and used to take shelter at KMV during the struggle for national freedom. KMV is a nationalistic institution which has played an active role in the freedom struggle. Our students have been among the first women to join this struggle. This premier institution of women empowerment has been held in great esteem by national leaders and has been visited by a galaxy of national leaders including five presidents and five prime ministers of India. As a mark of our tribute to Bhagat Singh and to cherish close connection and association with him, KMV has constructed a heritage memorial. Constructed in the pristine surrounding in KMV hostel, the heads of all who visits this heritage memorial, bow in reverence before the great martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh. It is important to mention that every year KMVites pay a tribute to Sardar Bhagat Singh on his Martyrdom Day. Moreover, the students of KMV also visits the native village of Sardar Bhagat Singh “Khatkar Kalan’’ on this day & they also organizes various rallies in order to spread the awareness against the various social evils of the society.
