KMV organises three SVEEP camps to drive Youth Electoral Awareness
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) successfully organized three Voter Registration Camp under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. The camps aimed to promote electoral awareness, encourage voter registration, and inculcate a sense of responsible citizenship among young voters.

Jalandhar, September 17, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) successfully organized three Voter Registration Camp under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. The camps aimed to promote electoral awareness, encourage voter registration, and inculcate a sense of responsible citizenship among young voters.
Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Madam Director, highlighted the significant role of youth in strengthening democracy and contributing to the nation-building process. She emphasized the importance of responsible and accountable elected representatives in a vibrant democracy.
Dr. Surjit Lal, District Assistant Nodal Officer, SVEEP, and Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Branch Jalandhar, was also present on the occasion. In his address, Dr. Surjit Lal emphasized that India is the largest democracy in the world and that the active participation of every citizen is essential for strengthening democratic governance. He motivated the students to participate in the electoral process with enthusiasm, responsibility, and a positive attitude. He also introduced them to the ECINET online application and explained the procedure for registering as new voters after attaining the age of eighteen years. He elaborated on the various electoral forms, including Form 6 for new voters, Form 6A for overseas Indian voters, Form 6B for Aadhaar authentication, Form 7 for deletion of names from the electoral roll, and Form 8 for correction of electoral details. Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Student Welfare, also apprised the students of the strategies and procedures for registering as voters through online platforms. The camp proved to be an informative and enriching learning experience for the students.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Iqbal Singh extended the formal vote of thanks. Madam Director appreciated the sincere efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dr. Ashima Sahni, and Dr. Iqbal Singh in successfully organizing the camp.
