KMV organises Simulated World Economic Forum to Enhance Students' Global Policy Insight
Students Step into the Shoes of World Leaders at Simulated WEF
Jalandhar, March 10, 2026: The P.G. Department of Economics at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized a Simulated World Economic Forum (WEF) as part of its academic initiative to provide students with exposure to global economic governance and international policy dialogue. The event aimed to replicate the structure of the World Economic Forum by engaging students in discussions on contemporary global challenges and international economic issues. The programme began with the floral felicitation of Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The session was anchored by Riya Juneja (BA–IV), who introduced the theme and objectives of the forum.
Students participated by representing prominent global leaders and heads of international institutions. Manjot Kaur (B.Sc. Eco–VI) portrayed Donald Trump (USA), Nidhi Sharma (BBA–II) represented Ursula von der Leyen (European Union), and Riya Sharma (M.Com FYIP–IV) enacted Ashwini Vaishnaw (India). Other participants included Mehak (B.Sc. Eco–IV) as Mark Carney (Canada), Diksha (B.Sc. Eco–IV) as Friedrich Merz (Germany), Sneha (B.Sc. Eco–IV) as Emmanuel Macron (France), and Simran Sharma (M.Com FYIP–IV) as He Lifeng (China). Vishali (M.Com FYIP–IV) portrayed Gita Gopinath (IMF), while Gurleen Kaur (M.Com FYIP–IV) represented industrialist Sunil Mittal.
During the forum, participants deliberated on key global issues such as economic slowdown, inflationary pressures, climate change, sustainable development, trade relations, technological advancements, and geopolitical tensions. Each participant presented the economic priorities and policy perspectives of their respective country or institution, creating an engaging environment for dialogue and debate.
The Simulated World Economic Forum significantly enhanced students’ understanding of international economic governance, multilateral cooperation, and global interdependence. The event also helped develop critical thinking, diplomacy, and communication skills, making it an intellectually stimulating academic experience. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the innovative initiative and described it as an effective method of experiential learning. She congratulated Amarpreet Khurana, Head of the P.G. Department of Economics, along with the entire faculty for successfully organizing the enriching event.
