KMV organises a one-day workshop on Life Skills

Jalandhar, March 18, 2023: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) always endeavours for the holistic development and achieving excellence in the field of education and promoting quality research as a method to enhance the skills and academics training on campus. Keeping with this trend, a one-day workshop on “Life-Skills” was organised by P.G. Department of Commerce and Business Administration. The erudite speaker was Dr. Manjit Singh, Professor and Head, University School of Applied Management, Punjabi University, Patiala.

The main aim of conducting the workshop was to guide the students in knowing and identifying the skills required and expected from them for being employable in this competitive era. Dr. Singh motivated the students to have vibrant and progressive mental makeup and attitude so that they may be ready to change or adapt according to the need. He further quoted that the world is full of ambiguity and only soft skills will help us to face this world. He also explained the importance of life skills in the life & described the relevance of listening, communication, collective intelligence and empathy. He further mentioned a series of skills like communication skills, computing skills and team ability expected from a person to be employable in this dynamic world. Thereafter, he explained that the effective teams have following characteristics: specialisation, common goal and objectives, good leader, defined roles and responsibilities, good communication and mutual trust. He concluded his speech by giving the example of Geese flying in V Formation through which he explained the most important feature of a good team, i.e., stay together and work together. 

Principal, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr. Neeraj Maini, Head, PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration for organising workshop for the students to help them understand the basic life skills. She averred that workshop will successfully enhance the knowledge of students regarding various important aspects of life skills.
