KMV Jalandhar NCC Cadets Empowered Through Civil Defence Capacity Building Training
Tammana Choudhary Secures First Prize in Overall Performance
Jalandhar, February 12, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar, participated in the 10-day Civil Defence Capacity Building Training Programme organized by the Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence (Government of India), aimed at strengthening community safety and enhancing emergency preparedness. The enthusiastic participation from KMV students, including NCC cadets, who actively engaged in acquiring vital life-saving and disaster-management skills was commendable.The intensive training programme covered *Fire Fighting and First Aid; Rope Knots and Lashing Techniques; CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) Management; Disaster Management; Emergency and Flood Rescue Operations; and Advanced Rope-Based Rescue Techniques.* Through rigorous hands-on drills, mock exercises, and simulated emergency scenarios, the cadets gained practical exposure and developed confidence, resilience, and the presence of mind required to handle real-life crisis situations effectively. Conducted by experienced Civil Defence professionals, the programme provided in-depth knowledge of coordinated emergency response systems and emphasized the crucial role of trained citizens during disasters. Special focus was placed on leadership, teamwork, discipline, quick decision-making, and community coordination — essential qualities in emergency situations.
Director, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, appreciated the initiative and highlighted that such capacity-building programmes are integral to holistic education as they instill discipline, social responsibility, and preparedness among students. She also lauded Lt. Sufalica Kalia, Associate NCC Officer, for her dedicated and consistent efforts in providing meaningful training opportunities that empower girl cadets to emerge as confident and capable leaders of the nation.
The NCC cadets of KMV demonstrated exceptional dedication and excellence throughout the training programme. *Cadet Tammana Choudhary secured First Prize in Overall Civil Defence Training Performance*, outperforming participants through her remarkable proficiency in Fire Fighting, First Aid, CPR, Disaster Management drills, and Rope-Based Rescue Techniques. Her outstanding practical skills, leadership qualities, quick response during simulated emergency situations, and disciplined approach earned her top honours among all trainees. Her achievement has brought immense pride and laurels to the institution and stands as a testament to the high standards of training imparted at KMV.
In recognition of her exemplary contribution, leadership, and sustained commitment to NCC activities, *Lt. Sufalica Kalia was honoured as the Guest of Honour*, and the honour was presented by the Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence, Jalandhar.
The participants expressed immense satisfaction with the training, stating that it significantly enhanced their confidence and equipped them with practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies. The successful completion of the programme reflects the strong commitment of KMV Jalandhar and the Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence Department towards building a safer, more resilient, and well-prepared society.
