Jalandhar, September 4, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) along with the KMV Hostel, celebrated the joyous festival of Janmashtami with immense devotion, spiritual fervour, and artistic brilliance.
The campus came alive with festive energy as students and faculty gathered to honour the birth of Lord Krishna in an atmosphere filled with cultural splendour and reverence. The highlight of the grand celebration was a series of captivating thematic performances staged by the students. Dressed in striking, traditional attire, the students brought various leelas of Lord Krishna to life through graceful choreography and soulful devotional music. Students portraying Lord Krishna and Radha enchanted the audience with intricate costumes, iconic accessories such as flutes and decorative headpieces, and classic alta painted on their hands and feet. The event featured vibrant group dance performances, including the traditional Raas Leela, where performers adorned in ghagras of vivid pink, yellow, blue, and green danced in seamless synchronisation. The stage transformed into a visual spectacle during the grand finale, marked by graceful mudras and a celebratory shower of flower petals across the stage floor.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi commended the students and hostel staff for putting together such an uplifting program. She highlighted that celebrating traditional cultural festivals plays an essential role in keeping Indian heritage alive while instilling core values of unity, devotion, and joy among young women. The event concluded with devotional prayers and the distribution of prasad, leaving all attendees immersed in festive cheer.
