Kiran Nadar Museum of Art hosts unique art competition for housebound student - Make a statement with ‘Mask-a-thon’

New Delhi: In keeping with its vision of bringing art to the people, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art is initiating a unique competition that seeks to engage housebound children in its latest project.

Titled “Mask A Thon,” the contest puts the ubiquitous protective cover at its very heart. This initiative is also an effort to help encourage children to use their creativity, and not allow the lockdown to diminish students engagement with the arts. Thus, the competition challenges schoolchildren to use the mask as a canvas for their creative effort. The choice of the mask is significant as it is one of the main tool being used to combat the virus. It also serves to highlight the key role played by healthcare workers in managing the pandemic. The winning works will be printed on the masks and showcased for the world to view.

“Our idea is to shine a light on the noble task of volunteering. The focus is to bring the liberating spirit of creativity, which is our preoccupation, to honor the heroic efforts of our public health professionals,” said KNMA Founder and Chairperson, Kiran Nadar.

This competition is open for budding young artists in two age groups – Junior (Born on or after Jan 1, 2009) and Senior Category (Born between Jan 1, 2002 and Dec 31, 2008). Any person residing in India can participate in this competition. The theme for this online art competition is the "Mask". The focus of the artwork will be on the mask to protect ourselves from the novel coronavirus. The artist can display their creativity using the mask as the main object in their artwork.

The winners of this contest will win exciting prizes and digital certificates. All participants will receive e-participation certificates.

The submission to this competition can only be done through the official KNMA website (knma.in). Competition is now open and entries can be submitted until May 23. Results will be announced by May 30 on KNMA website.
