Karwa Chauth Mela promoting innovation and entrepreneurship organized in Home Science College

Chandigarh, October 13, 2022: The Placement and Entrepreneurship Development cell of Govt. Home Science College Sec 10, Chandigarh organized Karwa Chauth Exhibition  cum Mela on 12th October. The main objective of this mela was to provide a platform to the budding entrepreneurs of the college to sell their innovative handmade products and to earn while they learn. The mela also motivated the students to enhance the skills of entrepreneurship by reselling many items and earning profits.  There were more than 25 stalls of different items consisting of suits, hand painted dupattas, hand-made candles, raisin art items, jewellery, accessories etc. The stall of mehndi became very popular as almost all the faculty members and students and even the outsiders from other colleges got mehndi applied on their hands by these girls. The main attraction of the exhibition was handmade eco-friendly candles  exhibited by the 3rd year.

The items made from raisin art in the form of jewellery, key rings and paintings by the student of Bsc 3rd year  also attracted a huge crowd. All the students enthusiastically participated in the exhibition and earned profits by selling their handmade items. Thus, the exhibition helped the students to learn the skills of selling and earning.  

The principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of the students in putting up this grand show in festive fervour and displaying their innovative items in the college. She also applauded the efforts of the Placement and Entrepreneurship Developmental Cell. The event turned out to be a perfect combo of learning with surplus earning.
