Issuing Notices to Stop Employees from Collective Strike Reflects Bhagwant Mann Government’s Dictatorial Mindset: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, August 30, 2026: BJP National Office In-Charge and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh today strongly condemned the Bhagwant Mann government’s move to issue notices to employees in an attempt to deter them from going on a collective strike, calling it a clear reflection of the government’s dictatorial mindset. He said that in a democracy, raising one’s voice for legitimate demands and rights is a democratic right, but instead of engaging with its employees, the Aam Aadmi Party government is trying to silence them through notices, threats of action and pressure.

Chugh said the Bhagwant Mann government should stop behaving like Nadir Shah. There is no place for Nadirshahi diktats in Punjab. He said government employees are not the enemies of the state but the backbone of Punjab’s administration, governance and development. The very employees whose shoulders carry the functioning of the state are now being threatened for raising legitimate concerns, which exposes the government’s insensitivity and administrative failure.

Chugh said the Aam Aadmi Party had made tall promises to Punjab’s employees before coming to power, but after assuming office, the government has failed to address their pending demands and fulfil its commitments. Instead of finding solutions, the government is now resorting to notices and threats whenever employees raise their voice for their rights.

He said attempts to suppress the voice of employees will not make their problems disappear. The government should abandon the path of confrontation, immediately engage with employee organisations and establish a clear time-bound mechanism to resolve their pending demands. In a democracy, issues are resolved through dialogue, not through government diktats and threats.

Chugh made it clear that the government cannot run Punjab by intimidating its employees. He said employees will continue to raise their legitimate concerns through democratic means and the Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with them in their fight for their legitimate rights and demands.

Chugh appealed to the Bhagwant Mann government to immediately initiate dialogue with employee organisations, abandon its confrontational approach and ensure a time-bound resolution of their pending demands. He said notices and threats cannot hide the government’s failures. The people and employees of Punjab are seeking answers and solutions, not Nadirshahi diktats.
