IOB Conducts Mega SHG & Agriculture Outreach Programme in Thanjavur
₹202.65 Crores Sanctioned to 2,634 Beneficiaries Across Five Districts.

Thanjavur/Chennai, August 2, 2025 - Indian Overseas Bank conducted a Mega Self Help Group, Financial Inclusion & Agriculture Credit Outreach Programme in Thanjavur, disbursing loans worth ₹202.65 crores to 2,634 beneficiaries. The program witnessed the participation of over 1,000 SHG members, farmers, FPO office-bearers, NGOs, and officials from the Mahalir Thittam Project from Thanjavur, Trichy, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, and Madurai regions.
Ajay Kumar Srivastava, Managing Director and CEO, Indian Overseas Bank. said during his speech. "This programme is the witness for our commitment to inclusive growth, women empowerment, and agricultural transformation. Our support to Self-Help Groups goes beyond credit – we are committed to offering financial literacy, skill training, digital inclusion, and long-term handholding. Our Mahila Shaksham schemes are designed to enable women to dream bigger and act bolder.”
The bank's initiatives, such as the IOB Harit Kranti scheme, aim to promote organic farming, sustainable practices, and eco-friendly agricultural models. The IOB FPO Finance scheme has been revamped to make it more responsive to the actual needs of the farming community.

Saturation Campaign and Objectives.
The Department of Financial Services, Government of India, has launched a nationwide three-month campaign to achieve saturation of Financial Inclusion schemes across all Gram Panchayats (GPs). In Tamil Nadu, there are 12,525 GPs, and Indian Overseas Bank has conducted 5,230 GP camps as scheduled till August 1, 2025.
Key objectives of the campaign include:
* Re-KYC of inactive PMJDY accounts and other savings accounts (wherever due)
* Opening bank accounts for unbanked adults under PMJDY
* Enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
* Enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
* Enrolments under Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
* Awareness sessions on digital fraud prevention and access to unclaimed deposits & grievance redressal
* Facilitating nomination updates in accounts (wherever pending)
